What is an organic farm?

An organic farm is a farm that produces food and other agricultural products according to the principles of organic farming. This means that the farm follows strict ecological and ethical rules, which are defined, for example, in the EU organic regulations.

Key principles of an organic farm:

  • Chemical-free farming – No artificial fertilizers or synthetic pesticides are used.
  • Animal welfare – Animals are provided with species-typical living conditions, organic feed and the opportunity to exercise outdoors.
  • Sustainable land use – Crop rotation and supporting biodiversity play a key role.
  • GMO-free – No genetically modified organisms are used in organic production.

Organic farms can produce, for example, grain, vegetables, meat, dairy products or eggs. For consumers, they offer a more ethical and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional agricultural production.
