A sauna is a warm room where people relax and sweat due to the heat. It is particularly popular in Finland, but sauna bathing is also practiced in many other countries.
What do you do in a sauna?
- Sit or lie down – In a sauna, people usually sit or lie down on a wooden bench. People are usually naked or with a towel.
- Take a steam bath – The sauna has hot stones on which water is poured. This produces water vapor, or “steam”, which increases the humidity in the sauna and makes the air hotter.
- Relax – In a sauna, you can be quiet and enjoy the heat or chat with others.
- Take a cool-down – After the sauna, many people take a shower, swim or cool off outside. This gives a fresh and invigorating feeling.
- Repeat a round – Usually, several rounds are taken in the sauna: warming up, cooling down and then going back, ending with a shower.
Health benefits of sauna
- Reduces stress – Heat relaxes muscles and helps calm the mind.
- Improves blood circulation – Heat dilates blood vessels, which promotes blood circulation and lowers blood pressure.
- Strengthens immunity – Regular sauna use can help the body fight off diseases.
- Helps muscles recover – Athletes use saunas to relax muscles after training.
- Cleanses skin – Sweating opens skin pores and removes impurities.
- Promotes better sleep – Many people sleep deeper and more restful after a sauna.
Sauna is therefore an excellent way to relax and care for both body and mind. Welcome to our outdoor sauna to enjoy the steam.
